Welcome

I am proud to represent the 43rd Congressional District in Congress.  I continue to fight, both in Washington and here in the 43rd District, to promote the issues and values that are important to the Inland Empire.  I have worked to further economic development in our community by promoting growth and creating new jobs.  I was the only Member of the Inland Congressional delegation to vote in support of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – which to date has brought over $570 million in federal funding to my district.  

I also am committed to providing high quality education for every child by increasing funding for public education, enhancing technology in the classroom, promoting teacher recruitment, and rebuilding crumbling classrooms.  This Congress, I have stood with the President to safeguard the health of our citizens by making care more accessible and affordable with a special concern about disparities in treatment for underserved communities.  

And I continue to stand with our communities to promote public safety by working with local officials and law enforcement to reduce and prevent crime, and protect our citizens from violence.  As an Army veteran, I am committed to honoring veterans and those soldiers serving in harms way by providing them adequate benefits in return for their valuable service to our nation. I have also worked diligently to address California’s water crisis, and clean contaminated local water sources.

In addition, in Fiscal Year 2010, I secured $75.8 million in appropriation funding, to assist vital transportation, education, public safety, and environmental projects in the 43rd District.  I am proud to serve the people of the Inland Empire, and I am eager and determined to continue working on their behalf.
