I'm running for Congress because our Country is in turmoil. Our Democracy is under attack and the values that made this Country great have been forgotten. The time for Leadership and change is NOW, that why I'm running for the 35th Congressional District. The current representative has done nothing, she has been ineffective, and has not worked in the best interest of the people of Pomona and the Inland Empire. We need a representative that will fight for Pomona and the Inland Empire to improve the quality of life for everyone. I have the resolve. I have the leadership experience with a proven track record and positive results. I have secured over $154 million in appropriation funding for vital education, transportation, public safety, and health projects in the Inland Empire. Plus, funding for perchlorate cleanup and water recycling in the Inland Empire. I was also able to bring over $570 million in stimulus funds, more than all the other members combined from the Inland Empire.

While Chair of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Nutrition, I was able to secure a record level of funding for federal nutrition programs. In the 2008 Farm Bill, which helped put food on the tables for 46 million hungry Americans. I worked to change the name of "Food Stamps" to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and established the EBT cards to reduce the stigma associated with "Foods Stamps". I was one of the few that voted against going to war in Iraq. I voted to increase funding for our veterans. I also voted to establish a new G.I. Bill for our veterans, the legislation assisted our veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. I fought for Workers’ Rights, that included: Equal Pay Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act; closing the gap between men and women in their careers. I led the fight against Anti-Immigration Amendments and too defeated English the only language requirements. While in Congress, I voted against every Free Trade Agreement to protect the American worker.

This why we need a representative with a vision, strength and leadership experience. I have a proven track record and the willpower to fight in the best interest of the citizens of Pomona and the Inland Empire. We need to will need to work together in a bipartisan fashion for what's best for this Country VS's what's best for political parties. It's time for leadership and putting people first!
